OLUSHOLA OGUNNOWO


He is a graduate of Sports Sciences (Bachelor of
Science) and Masters in Public Administration,
with PHD in view, born in 1969 in Sagamu,⁹
Ogun State, married to Oluremi Ogunnowo with
4 children. Olushola is an Experienced Sport
Administrator with a demonstrated history of
working in the Nigeria Football and sports
industry, having been a member of the Nigeria
Economic Summit Group, Sports thematic. He is
presently a Director in the Nigeria Football
Federation and Chief Operating Officer of Nigeria
Nationwide League One of over 400 football
clubs across the country. The league has been adjudged to be the best run league in
Nigeria.


He was able to recognize and work with a reputable consultant in sports
management (Premium Sports and NVA.SEG UK) which enabled him to put
heads together and responsible for the implementation of the first
business-based reform in the Nigeria third cadre league (NLO). Working at
the highest level of football administration in Nigeria spanning over 23 years
as a competitions manager, information technology driven with high
adrenaline to excel in all endeavors. Among the innovations he brought on
board as Chief Operating Officer of the Nigeria Nationwide League One are,
implementation of best football league administration practice, he ensured
that all the players in the league were insured and compensation paid
promptly, he commenced the pre-competition medical assessment for all
players in the league, he ensured age cheat is reduced during players
registration process, he introduced tamper proof players registration and
online registration with a functional website for the league, he ensured the
NLO has a mobile application for easy access, he fought relentlessly to
ensure clubs participate in the league with clear conscience and purpose, he
practically puts, the Nigeria 3rd cadre league on the global map by
collaborating with the established leagues around the world. Just of recent
he embarked on a UK tour on a business trip with some NLO club chairmen
and managers to learn from the back-end operations of successful clubs at
the level of NLO in the UK (Crystal Palace FC, MK Dons, Sheffield Utd FC,
Burton Albion FC, etc) whereby he secured a very strong relationship with
some clubs through the league consultant in UK. (NVA.SEG).


Being a British Council trained sports administrator, Shola has a lifelong commitment
and passion for sport and what it can add to our lives, as well as enhancing boardroom
performance which drives the growth and success we all strive for.
Shola can offer help and support to improve director performance and board
effectiveness. Support elite student athletes, coordinating sport science support and
lifestyle management support, to assist athletes in balancing their sport, academics and
reaching their full potential in both arenas.


An influential leader and experienced non-executive director with the highest level in
communication skills, Information technology inclined personality, connections and
extensive governance knowledge and experience - gained on boards and in delivering
professional development sessions on the subject. He has proven his ability to operate
at the highest level with impeccable diplomacy, tact and subtlety to achieve individual
and organizational outcomes. Currently fixated on improving directorship and boards
across all aspects of society and ensuring appropriate and effective corporate
governance prevails.


Olushola Ogunnowo has a full working understanding of WAFU, CAF and FIFA which will
enable him work effortlessly within the football fraternity having led the Nigeria U-23
team to the Beijing Olympics 2008 and won Silver medal with Coach Samson Siasia.
Olushola Ogunnowo has equally functioned in various departments in the Nigeria
Football Federation (The Nigeria Professional League, National Team Administrator, The
Nigeria Amateur League, The Federation Friendly matches, The Nigeria Women's
League, The Protocol Dept, and Presently in the Nigeria Nationwide League One as
Chief Operating Officer).
